Nina Brand: South Africa’s Pop Queen Who’s Ready to Take Over the World

If you haven’t heard of Nina Brand yet, it’s only a matter of time before you do. This South African-born pop artist is quickly making waves, and she’s got the kind of talent that’ll have you hitting repeat on her tracks all day long. With a voice that’s as captivating as it is powerful, Nina’s music journey has been nothing short of inspiring. From her early days of singing at just 7 years old to becoming an international sensation, Nina Brand is on the rise, and she’s ready for the world to hear her.

A Journey to Remember

Nina Brand’s musical journey is one of passion, dedication, and a bit of serendipity. She started singing and playing music at the young age of seven – and it didn’t take long for everyone around her to realize she had something special. But her road to stardom wasn’t a straight path. At just 16, Nina made it to the Top 16 of Idols South Africa Season 11, a major milestone that showed the world that this girl had serious talent.

But instead of following the traditional route to music stardom, Nina took a bit of a detour. She decided to follow another one of her passions and went to culinary school, eventually becoming a qualified chef. For two years, Nina worked as a fine dining chef, but her love for music never left her. As the world was about to face the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, Nina made a life-changing decision. She put down the chef’s knife and picked up the microphone again, determined to chase her musical dreams.

A Global Stage

It didn’t take long for Nina to show the world she was back and better than ever. In 2022, she made a splash on the international stage by winning the Overall Female Vocal Category at IPOP (Los Angeles), a prestigious event that celebrates some of the best in the music industry. It was a sign that Nina was more than ready to take on the global music scene.

In 2023, she performed at the iconic Silver Lining Piano Lounge in Bowrey, New York, alongside world-class musicians like Christopher Heinz, Kent Thompson, and Mike Greko. These performances not only showcased her vocal prowess but also solidified her status as an artist to watch.

New Music and Big Wins

Nina’s music is resonating with fans worldwide, and it’s easy to see why. Her recent single “Ruined Love For Me” has been making waves across radio stations both locally and internationally. The song also landed on Apple Music’s “New In Pop” and “New Music Daily” editorial playlists, a major achievement for any artist.

Since her return to music in 2021, Nina has been performing at various venues in South Africa, bringing her electrifying energy to every stage. And if you think Nina’s just a studio artist, think again. She even had the honor of singing the South African national anthem at the final Springbok Rugby Test match in 2024 at Mbombela Stadium – a full-circle moment for this rising star.
